How Will the Show “Scandal” Reflect on Crisis Management Firms?

Among Florida public relations firms Red Banyan Group is unique because we are not just a PR agency, but also a Florida-based crisis management firm.

We are eagerly looking forward to tonight’s premiere of a new show called “Scandal,” which will probably stir up some public discussion and curiosity about crisis PR.

The show is based upon a real-life crisis management practitioner and Washington insider who worked at the White House and subsequently for a number of celebrities and other high-profile individuals. The first episode is airing on ABC at 10:00 p.m.

The team members of Red Banyan Group will be watching, eager to see how the small screen portrays our business. The show will almost certainly wind up being melodramatic, but that is to be expected. After all, if it isn’t entertaining then people won’t watch.

It will be interesting to see if the topics the show touches upon (or any of the strategies or tactics employed by the fictional crisis management firm) mirror reality or the crisis management work that we do at Red Banyan Group. The show carries with it additional interest for our company since Red Banyan Group Founder Evan Nierman is also a former veteran of the Washington political and communications scene.

We’ll be watching, and back on the blog tomorrow with a report giving our reaction to Scandal.
