Red Banyan CEO Evan Nierman Shares Insights on P. Diddy and Garth Brooks Crises on Fox News

Crisis manager Evan Nierman on Fox News in Houston talking about Garth Brooks allegations.

In a recent segment on FOX Houston’s Morning Show, Red Banyan CEO and crisis public relations expert Evan Nierman weighed in on the sexual assault allegations faced by country music star Garth Brooks. As a leading voice in crisis communications, Nierman illuminated the strategies and potential pitfalls in high-stakes public relations scenarios.

When asked about the comparison between Garth Brooks and P. Diddy, Nierman emphasized the stark differences between the two situations. “I think the assertion that he’s like P. Diddy is absurd, ridiculous. It’s a PR push by her legal team, and I understand why they’re doing it. They’re trying to attach him to someone whose brand has become toxic, but this is night and day,” Nierman explained. He added, “There is a fundamental difference between a federal indictment and being arrested and imprisoned, like Diddy is, and a person simply accusing you in a lawsuit – not the same thing.”

Throughout the segment, Nierman shared Red Banyan’s approach to crisis communications, which emphasizes rapid response, transparency, and message precision. He noted, “I think he was very slow to respond. I think he let it go unanswered and unchallenged for too long.”

Regarding the involvement of Brooks’ wife in addressing the allegations, Nierman advised, “I think with transparency and openness, and I think communicating that she stands with her husband, that she believes these to be false accusations. I think there would be a benefit to having her weigh in and to have a rejection of these allegations, not just coming from him, but coming also from his wife.” This approach, according to Nierman, could provide a stronger, more cohesive response to the allegations.

Commenting on Brooks’ initial media statement, Nierman suggested that “his statement was too long, it was too unfocused. I would not have described this as hush money, which suggests that maybe something untoward has happened and you’re trying to keep it quiet. I think they needed to be much more direct, much more aggressive, much more clear that this is a shakedown.”

The Fox News appearance provided viewers with a behind-the-scenes look at the strategic thinking that goes into managing reputations in the public eye, showcasing the expertise of crisis communications firms like Red Banyan.
