Red Banyan Helps Launch Successful Fundraising Campaign

Challenge

Following Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia needed to quickly mobilize the local Jewish community to support Israel. Our goal was to highlight the organization’s leadership and impact on both local and national levels. Another goal was to launch a media information campaign to counter anti-Israel propaganda in a rapidly evolving news environment.

Action

Red Banyan collaborated with the Jewish Federation to launch the “Philly Stands With Israel” campaign, focusing on fundraising and keeping communities informed. The campaign included organizing emergency rallies and events, securing media coverage, and ensuring accurate information was disseminated regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict. The team also facilitated media involvement, coordinating interviews and on-the-ground support at events attended by thousands of pro-Israel supporters. Additionally, our efforts included addressing antisemitism on U.S. college campuses through strategic communications.

Impact

Our team was able to set up multiple interviews for the Federation with top-tier national outlets, such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Daily Mail, and the USA Today, highlighting its work to support the Philadelphia Jewish community and push back against rising antisemitism.

As a result of our media campaign, Red Banyan secured over 200 pieces of earned media coverage, receiving over 4.8 million estimated views between October 2023 – January 2024.

Through our partnership, the Philly Stands with Israel Fund raised over $15.3 million in just three months for urgent humanitarian needs and recovery efforts in Israel to help with basic needs, emergency equipment for first responders, long-term rebuilding efforts, and more.
