Red Banyan Founder and CEO Evan Nierman recently spoke at Southern Methodist University in Dallas after being invited to meet with students to discuss crisis communications.

Nierman, the author of Amazon bestseller Crisis Averted and a go-to crisis PR source for the media, visited the school as a guest of Kim Commerato Lance, a professor of practice with the Meadows School of Arts, Division of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs.

Nierman spoke with students on topics ranging from strategic communications and marketing to messaging and public relations. Students also asked questions about the cancel culture phenomenon, the focus of Nierman’s forthcoming book with Skyhorse Publishing due out next year.

“It was really energizing to spend time interacting with students at this excellent university,” Nierman said afterwards. “I love the opportunity to learn from the people who are going to be picking up the mantle of leadership and shaping the future of the industry in the decades to come.”

Red Banyan CEO Evan Nierman Talks Crisis Public Relations with SMU Students in Dallas

Red Banyan CEO and Founder Evan Nierman traveled to Dallas last week to guest lecture at Southern Methodist University in Dallas where he discussed crisis public relations with undergraduate students in the Division of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (PRWEB) NOVEMBER 07, 2022

Red Banyan CEO and Founder Evan Nierman traveled to Dallas last week for a discussion of crisis public relations with communications students at Southern Methodist University. The undergraduate students were enrolled in a crisis management course in the school’s Division of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs.

Nierman, the author of Amazon bestseller Crisis Averted and a go-to crisis PR source for the media, was invited to the university as a top practitioner in communications to share real-time experiences with students who are studying public relations and strategic communication. Nierman was invited as a guest of Kim Commerato Lance, a professor of practice with the Meadows School of the Arts, Division of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs.

During a “fireside chat” with Professor Lance, Nierman covered a wide range of subjects related to strategic communications, marketing, messaging, and public relations. Discussion focused on topics from Nierman’s book, Crisis Averted, Strategies to Protect Your Reputation and the Bottom Line, which many students read as part of their coursework. The conversation included several questions focused on the cancel culture phenomenon, the focus of Nierman’s forthcoming book with Skyhorse Publishing due out next year.

“It was really energizing to spend time interacting with students at this excellent university,” Nierman said afterwards. “I loved the opportunity to learn from the people who are going to be picking up the mantle of leadership and shaping the future of this industry in the decades to come. The students were earnest, well-prepared and have clearly learned a lot from Professor Lance.”

The conversation with Professor Lance was followed by in-depth question-and-answer session with the students.

“It was such an honor to have a globally-known crisis expert join our class. I firmly believe that crisis management is best learned “in the fire,” and Evan Nierman was able to bring this perspective to the class,” Commerato Lance said. “The discussion was genuine, and the class came away much better equipped to lead crisis planning and response efforts for future clients.”

In addition to appearing at SMU, Nierman has spoken numerous times at his alma mater The George Washington University, guest lecturing in GW’s School of Media and Public Affairs.
